GSS Featured Engagement Session :: Jessica & Jody’s Romantic Castle Session :: Pure Sugar Studios

Hooray! You are in for a treat today. This engagement session was submitted to us from Pure Sugar Studios via Two Bright Lights and it was only fitting that we run this feature as we rapidly approach the 25th anniversary of one of our favorite movies…..The Princess Bride. As we were browsing these images we were reciting a quote from the movie over and over again in our heads. The line we all know and love from The Princess Bride said by the incredibly funny Billy Crystal….”Have fun stormin’ da castle!” For those of you that are not familiar with this movie, from 1987 with a star-studded cast. Its a classic fairy tale, with swordplay, giants, an evil prince, a beautiful princess, and yes, some kissing. Now, can’t you see this session fitting with the movie….well minus the swordplay, giants and evil prince.

These two definitely looked like they had a blast Stormin’ Da Castle. Jessica and Jody’s engagement session is filled with romance, love, laughter, bikes and a truly romantic location….a REAL CASTLE Saint Augustine Florida!

Thank you Pure Sugar Studios for sharing this session with us! We just love a great romance story. This session is truly unique and we are so excited to share it with all of our Groom Sold Separately readers. Jessica and Jody, thank you for sharing your love for our readers to see and we wish you a lifetime of love and laughter and may each day be better than the last! “Have fun stormin’ da castle!”

If you have an engagement, wedding, day after, or anniversary session that you would like featured, Please send it to us at submissions@groomsoldseparately.com.  We HEART submissions! If you are already a member on Two Bright Lights, its even easier to submit there! We can’t wait to see what you send us!!

GSS Wedding Trends :: Balloon Wedding Send-Off

Today we are excited to bring you a new trend in wedding send-offs. We are seeing more and more fantastic wedding exits. They can be grand and spontaneous, or low-key and quiet. We have seen sparklers, confetti, streamers, bubbles and even paper airplanes! Allison Davis with Allison Davis Photography has sent us these beautiful wedding images. The couple chose to a balloon exit with several varieties of colors in their palette. We thought of way to take this further with adding wedding wishes and tying them to the streamers. Each of your guests can write a sweet wish to the couple and then tie them and the wishes could go up with the balloons.

Thanks so much Allison for sending us these great images of such a fun wedding trend. You can find Allison in our Texas Regional Wedding Vendor Directory.

GSS Fun Find :: Make Your Sign In Book Scrappy!

Above Scrapbooking paper from Michael’s

If you have been to a wedding this decade, we are sure you have seen the sign-in books wrapped in white fabric with the fancy feather pen sitting next to it. It greets you as you enter the wedding and politely whispers for you to sign your name on the line. Now, those of us that have seen couples get creative with their sign-in books love it! Something different, something fun! This past weekend we saw a cute way for guests to sign in. The couple used scrapbook paper, colorful pens and a slip-in photo album. All of these items can be found at most craft stores. We did some research for this post and found some fun paper for your guests to write some words of a wisdom, maybe a wish for the couple, or just a doodle for you remember them by during your wedding day. We just searched Google for “scrapbooking paper” and found a plethora of ideas for you to use. The above collage shows three different paper types we put together based on the sign in book we saw at the wedding this weekend. You could find a theme pack and take the guess work out of coordinating anything. Have the pens near the paper, and the guests will do the rest. After the wedding, slip these beauties into your album and viola….a pretty sign-in book you can keep forever!

Just remember, this your wedding. Incorporate your theme, your colors, your personality! Its fun and a great way for your guests to leave you a little token of wisdom in writing for you to keep forever. Have fun with it and we can’t wait to hear about what you did to make it your own.

GSS Weekly Recap :: Weddings Revisited

We covered a couple of DIY projects, a beautiful WHITE wedding inspiration board and a wedding over-flowing with gorgeous color. Don’t just take our word for it. Visit the links below to see for yourself!

GSS’s things We LOVE :: Beyond White’s Whimiscal Window Pane Wedding Seating Charts

Last year we showed you an awesome idea for your wedding reception seating chart using a repurposed window pane.  (You can see that post by clicking here.)  This can easily be recreated for your own wedding.  Just find an old window pane at your local junk yard (or a new one at a home improvement store (think Home Depot or Lowe’s) and roughing it up with sandpaper to look old) and a paint marker from Hobby Lobby or Michael’s.  Then, in your best handwriting, write the table numbers … [Read More...]

GSS Wedding Inspiration Board :: It’s a Nice Day for A… WHITE Wedding!

It was suggested to me that I make the inspiration board for this week an all White wedding.  I have to be honest, I used to shudder at the thought of an ALL White wedding.  I mean, should Bridesmaids wear the same color as the Bride? Wouldn’t that be a HUGE wedding faux pas?  Many Brides think this way.  They want to be the only gal in White at her wedding- which is totally understandable.  But if you’re a bride who thinks outside the box and doesn’t mind letting your ladies wear White as … [Read More...]

GSS Do It Yourself :: Paper Flower Bouquet

Not too long ago we showed you a fun project to make a bouquet out of PAPER! We put out origami skills to the test and made one to show you! This is a great alternative to a real flower bouquet that will last a very long time. We used a few fun things to make this a fall inspired bouquet. With the purple hues and greenery, it paired well with the vintage paper we used to make the flowers. This is a perfect eco-friendly DIY project for your wedding. We always like to reuse, re-purpose, and create … [Read More...]

GSS Featured Wedding :: Pradhna & Patrick Colorful Indian Wedding :: Cory Ryan Photography

Talk about color! Our jaws hit the floor when we received this Texas Indian wedding submission from Cory Ryan Photography. There was so much emotion captured, so many colors, and so many beautiful images. We wanted to show you this wedding to its fullest, but alas, we had to narrow it down some. Cory did a fantastic job with this wedding and we are ecstatic to share it with you. Here are some thoughts from her :: This was the first Telugu south Indian wedding I had ever shot. Over the span of 14 hours, we got to become a part of the two families and take some of the most magical photos ever. We began early in the morning with the couple getting ready in their separate houses, followed by their individual prayer ceremonies. The venue was beyond amazing with views of the lake and a sunset that added the perfect backdrop to the couple’s toasts and dinner. The decor was everything I could have imagined and more – purple orchids strung in lines with streamed in between turquoise ribbon. The DJ played all the Indian dance hits – both the kids & adults were all out on the dance floor letting loose! The couple was even lifted onto friend’s shoulders and bounced around the dance floor near the end. Then last but not least, fireworks were the massive grand finale to the most amazing day for Pradhna & Patrick!

GSS Do It Yourself :: Paper Flower Bouquet

wedding inspiration and trends diy (2)

Not too long ago we showed you a fun project to make a bouquet out of PAPER! We put out origami skills to the test and made one to show you! This is a great alternative to a real flower bouquet that will last a very long time. We used a few fun things to make this a fall inspired bouquet. With the purple hues and greenery, it paired well with the vintage paper we used to make the flowers. This is a perfect eco-friendly DIY project for your wedding. We always like to reuse, re-purpose, and create extraordinary things from ordinary materials!

wedding inspiration and trends diy (3)

A few items you will need to create your own ::

Bouquet holder (since there are not any real flowers inside, you can use a plain Styrofoam one).
Buttons!
Silk Flowers and greenery
Paper (we used a old Physics textbook since the paper was already aging a bit and had a nice vintage tone to it.)
Beads or Peals
Floral wire
Paper Cutter  or scissors
Wire cutters

Now scope out the local craft stores for silk flowers perfect for your wedding color palette. While you are there, grab the other items on too. Fold all of the flowers using the instructions found here and here.

First we threaded the buttons and beads with the floral wire. Next, we placed the floral wire through the center of the paper flowers and then wrapped it around some of the stems from the silk flowers. This made it easy to position them in the Styrofoam. Start placing the flowers and greenery in the bouquet holder until you have a pleasing arrangement. There are no rules, so place them how you like. We continued this until the bouquet was full. It didn’t take much.

The best part…..after the discounts for all of the materials we only spent $34 to make this. The beads and buttons were the bulk of the costs, but we could purchase more silk flowers and make enough for a few more bouquets. These could be used as fun centerpieces too!
