GSS Featured Wedding :: Collyn & Brannon’s East Texas Spring Wedding :: ChiK Photography

Today’s fabulous featured wedding was submitted to us by Janiece McClendonof  ChiK Photography, a Texas based wedding photography team comprised of Janiece and Carol Riell.  Janiece has been so sweet and accommodating to GSS and we have truly enjoyed working with her on this feature.

Collyn and Brannon were married on February 26, 2011 in Sulphur Springs, Texas.  Collyn was kind enough to answer a few questions for us:

How did you and Brannon meet? A mutual friend introduced us while we were out one Saturday night. Neither one were looking to meet anyone. I was out for girls night!

How long have you been together? At the time of the wedding we had just reached our 1 year anniversary.

How did Brannon propose? He took me on a trip to Las Vegas for my birthday, or so I thought. He had it all planned out, had the ring and my father’s permission. However, there was a little mishap. The lady scanning our baggage completely blew his cover when she saw a ring inside his carry-on. She kept asking, “Are you going to Las Vegas to get married?” Brannon quickly snapped back, “No, of course not!!” hinting for her to be quiet, but she didn’t get it and kept on and on until I became suspicious. He waited until we were in our gorgeous suite at the Bellagio watching the fountains dance along to the music. The clock had just struck midnight, Texas time, which meant it was my birthday when he officially popped the question.

What sold you on your wedding venue? We were married in the church I grew up in, so there was lots of sentimental reasoning behind that. Then, there were several reasons Hidden Lakes was the perfect choice for our reception. I absolutely fell in love with it when I first saw it! The natural setting of the lodge and the woods was exactly what I wanted.  Then upon talking with Kathryn and her staff, I knew they would take great care of us for our special day!

Your dress is gorgeous, where did you get it and how did you know it was “the one”? I bought my dress from Priscilla of Boston in Dallas. It was the first time I had gone dress shopping, and wasn’t planning on buying that day. However, the lady helping me try on suggested a new style that she thought would be perfect on me. It was the 3rd dress I tried, and it certainly was a charm! There really is something about when you try on THE dress, it just feels right. I felt so beautiful in it and did not want to take it off.

What was your “something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue”? The something old, of all things, were my shoes. I had the cutest pair of Kate Spades that I just loved and went great with my dress. My dress was new, my earrings were borrowed and gorgeous, and my cousin made my garter which had blue satin roses.

Do you have any advice for brides that are in the planning process? Don’t sweat the small stuff, and sometimes even the big stuff is really just small stuff too. Remember what you are planning for. The love between to people is a beautiful thing, and should not be overshadowed by a table linen!!

What song did you dance to for your first dance? We chose “That’s the Way Love Goes” By Merle Haggard. I introduced it to Brannon when we were first dating, and it quickly became one of his all time favorites. I guess that’s “our song”!

How did you choose your wedding color palette? I was inspired by my favorite flower: a classic white hydrangea. A little brown in the stem, the green of the leaves and the white from the petals. I wanted it to be very natural.

What was your favorite part of your big day? That’s a hard one!!  But I would have to say making it to the reception and seeing all the people we love having a great time was definitely the best part. All along we wanted it to be a big celebration and lots of fun and it really was!!

GSS Featured Engagement :: Nicole & Ryan’s Snowy Utah Engagement Session :: Rebekah Westover Photography

Happy Hump Day, Lovelies!!!  We have a special treat for you today.  Although most of the country is experiencing the beginning of Spring and the warmer weather it brings- The Rockies and our northern and eastern states are still getting some of that beautiful white powder.  With that said, we have an amazing snowy engagement session to feature today from Rebekah of Rebekah Westover PhotographyRebekah Westover Photography is a Utah based wedding photographer.

Nicole and Ryan are to be married on December 10, 2011 in San Diego.  Nicole was kind enough to answer a few questions for us:

How did you and Ryan meet?  Ryan and I met 8 years ago at my family beach house in Laguna Beach, CA. We had a little trailer there right on the beach in a little place that my great-grandmother had bought when my grandma was a girl. It was a magical quaint little part of Laguna that had been around for ages. Ryan was a lifeguard and conveniently enough, one of my cousin’s friends. I come from a family of all boys so it wasn’t until a year later that I was given the OK to date him… I guess being raised among the guys they feel like they have to check and double check credentials…especially if it’s one of their friends! We were 17 then and we really didn’t know what to expect…for all we knew, it was a summer romance.

How long did you date before the proposal OR How long have you been together?  We have been together for 8 years and have survived the distance, school and our jobs. Ryan graduated from the University of Irvine with an emphasis in Social Ecology and I graduated from the University of San Diego with a BA in English and a single subject Teaching Credential- A far cry from what we both do today! Ryan is a Marine Safety Officer for the City of Laguna Beach and I am a Drywall Subcontractor in San Diego.

Have you set a date yet?  We’re getting married 12-10-11.

Have you picked your venue?  If so, what made you choose this location?  We’ve decided to get married in San Diego at the Immaculata which is located on my old college campus-USD. We would frequent the church often when I went to school there and I am so excited that the priest who will be marrying us was my priest ever since I was a young girl. Nothing can be more special than having someone you know well marry you. Our families are extremely important in our lives and we want more than anything, to have a celebration of family and friends. We’ve been together for long enough to know our commitment and love for one another is so great and   we want the focus to be on what got us to this point and honor our families and friends. That being said, we’re going to have our reception at my families home in La Jolla. We’re getting married in December because we thought it seemed more cozy and would set the mood for our cabin-y family celebration…much like Christmas feels!

How did Ryan propose?  Ryan proposed while we were Heli-skiing at the Canyons with the Park City Powder Birds in Utah.   On Dec 24, 2010 we went up in the helicopter with my family and Ryan. It was an amazingly clear day and we had such great runs. On the third run my family skied down one by one leaving us to be the last two. (Each person goes separately just in case there’s avalanche danger). I was up next and just as I was asking the guide if I could go, I saw Ryan pull something from his jacket. Immediately he popped the question because I think he feared I might Ski away! It was amazing and our guide got our photos on camera! I was so surprised and it was the perfect engagement for us and most importantly, it was on Ryan’s terms. :)

Besides getting engaged, what is your favorite memory as a couple?  My Dad has always included me in all of the things that one might consider “guys trips” from hunting to fishing to heliskiing. I love to try new things and get out and explore. I think Ryan figured that my mind would be focused on the adrenaline of the situation that I’d never consider him proposing (you have to remember we’d been dating 8 years… I ALWAYS expected it). I had even planned a trip to climb Mt. Whitney, a 14,000 elevation climb just because I thought it might inspire him. It was only after 35 miles and 14,000 feet that he had to explain we were not getting engaged just yet. I think I cried all the way down because it was then that I realized I had climbed the highest peak in CA and had blisters on my feet and hadn’t gone to the bathroom in days for no apparent reason other than I was a big dreamer! But he knew what I was up to… This is hands down one of our favorite memories too as we both laugh about it to this day. Just the fact that he still wanted to marry me after this was amazing!

What made you choose to do a snowy engagement session vs. a San Diego beach session?  Since we were engaged in Utah, we debated for some time about getting married there. Everything is amazingly beautiful and each winter we love to go and ski as often as we can! Eventually, we decided it was best to stay close to home so that more of our family could come celebrate with us, BUT we weren’t willing to give up on Utah altogether…we wanted pictures to capture where our fond memories continue. The beaches of California are nice, but they don’t capture the fun that we have in the snow and it seemed all the more fitting since our engagement was there and our wedding in December. Again, we love the cabin atmosphere and the fun  of winter!

What made you choose Rebekah as your photographer?  After looking for a bit, we found Rebekah and feel in love with her style and the way she captures truly happy and fun moments. We aren’t too much of a serious couple and we wanted to feel as if we were enjoying each other’s company and she was capturing the moments for us- that’s what we got and we’re so happy that we have these to forever remember this part of our lives. All of these moments and feelings are something that we will reminisce about again and again and it’s so nice to have a photographer like Rebekah to make them timeless.

Nicole was sweet enough to send us a couple of shots from the actual proposal too!  So cool!!! LOVE it!

Thank you so much, Rebekah, for sharing this amazing engagement session with us!  Please stop by her website and her blog and show her some love!  And thank you, Nicole, for taking your time to answer our questions and sharing your proposal pictures with us!  We hope your wedding is everything that you have ever dreamed of and wish you and Ryan a lifetime full of love, laughter, and happiness!!!  May every day be better than the last!

GSS Featured Wedding Professional :: Jillian Bisinger Photography :: Ginny & Andrew’s Viaggio Estate Wedding

We have a real treat for you all today GSS readers…Jill Bisinger from Los Angeles California sent us this beautiful wedding via Two Bright Lights and it is certainly swoon-er-riffic! Jill sent us the Q&A from Ginny for us to share with you as well…

How did the two of you meet?
The first time we met we were casually introduced in June of 2008 amongst a group of people. I (Andrew) was in a relationship at the time but there was something about Ginny that really stood out to me. She was obviously physically beautiful, but it seemed much deeper than that. By chance we met up again a few months later, this time I was single and
couldn’t believe we crossed paths again. When I saw Andrew again that second time, he looked so familiar but I wasn’t sure how I knew him. But in my head I was thinking, “wow, this guy is hot.” Over a game of shuffle board is when I think we began to hit it off. We hardly knew each other but we were having so much fun. I wasn’t too sure though if he was interested in me, but by the end of the night he was giving me these subtle hints. By the time I left I thought, “he’s totally into me.” Haha! The next morning I was so excited about Andrew I told my Mom “I met someone.” She says right then she knew Andrew was someone special. I was working at Haven Acres Bar and Grill at that time and invited him to come see me the next night. Later I found out he told his friend “I don’t care what you’re doing tomorrow night, we are going to see Ginny.”We were basically inseparable after that. We had this automatic connection but after spending more time together it was the best feeling to find out we shared the same beliefs, interest, humor, and love for our friends and family. We moved in together 6 months later, engaged 2 months after that and then married October 16, 2010 within a couple weeks of our 2 year anniversary.

Describe your engagement proposal?
I decided to propose to Ginny at one of our favorite campgrounds, Cisco Grove in Truckee, Ca. That is where I accidentally confessed my love to her. By accident I mean I said it after we had only been dating a month. I already knew I was going to be with Ginny for the rest of my life, but I didn’t want to scare her away. I was camping at Cisco Grove and saying good night to her over the phone, before we hung up those words just jumped out of my mouth. Seven months later we were both back camping at Cisco Grove. After asking for her dad’s permission my plan was to propose. The morning I proposed I cooked her breakfast and then we went for an early ride in our off road Kawasaki vehicle. I buckled her tight enough so she couldn’t reach the glove department and find her ring. It took about 20minutes to get to the special rock I had already scouted for. This specific spot gave us an amazing few over the mountains and trees. As she was taking pictures I turned our favorite song on walked over to her got on my knee and told her I wanted to spend the rest of my life with her. She said yes. We got to spend the rest of the weekend we some of our best friends and some family members.

Where did you find your inspiration for the theme of the wedding day?
Ginny: I turned to the internet a lot. Wedding Blogs were new to me and I quickly became addicted. I saw so many different themes’ and types of weddings, I didn’t think we’d ever be able to decide what we liked best. Photography blogs were amazing too, that is where I would see the true story of a wedding. Magazines were fun to go through, not just wedding but style magazines too.

Beyond that Andrew and I were looking for a little bit of a rustic feel. We both love the outdoors and wanted to include that as much as we could.

Andrew: I like nature and the outdoors. Camping, rocks, sticks and greenery. Then just followed Ginny’s lead.

What was unique about your wedding?
A. What was most unique about our wedding was how personable our favors were.During the first few months of dating Andrew bought me a rock that had LOVE inscribed on it. We called it our “Love Rock.” One night I found the rock hidden under my pillow by Andrew. So the next morning I put it in the shower for Andrew to find. We began to hide
our Love Rock in places we knew the other would find it. When we would find the Love Rock we knew it was another way we say “I love you.” Andrew works nights so this wasa great reminder that we were always thinking about one another.

Each of our guests received a Love Rock with a note that said, “Take this Love Rock and do as we do. Hide your rock around the house and when your loved one finds it, he/she will be reminded that you
love them.”

Since the wedding, we have had so many couples share their stories on where they hide their love rocks and how much they love them.

It felt great for us to give our family and friends another way to share there love, with their loved ones.

What was the most memorable moment of your wedding day?
A. Ginny: My favorite moment of our wedding was at the very end of our ceremony. After we completed our vows and after our first kiss when we turned toward our family and friends and for the first time we were introduced as husband and wife…Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Wertman. I was so happy to finally be husband and wife I felt like a little girl. I wanted to jump up and down. It was the best feeling and I will never forget it.

Andrew: My favorite moment during our wedding was our private first look. As my back was faced toward her I could hear her walking toward me. It took all I had to keep my composure.
I couldn’t wait to see her. When I finally got to turn around it was like our day was finally here, she was finally going to be my wife. She looked beautiful.

Please describe your wedding details in as much detail as possible (theme, signature cocktail, party favors, colors, food choices, serving-wear, attire, music, landscape, etc.)
We chose to have our wedding at Viaggio Estate and Winery in Acampo, Ca. Viaggio was the only venue we looked at. It is a Tuscan Inspired private estate and it was love at first sight. Walking onto the grounds of Viaggio you enter through “Main Street,” A cobble stone path that is aligned with Olive Trees, twinkle lights and gorgeous flowers everywhere. Continuing on the path you get the most gorgeous view of the estate. A large sweeping marble staircase will bring you to the grand plush lawn with the Mokelumne River sweeping to the right and walnut orchards to the left. We loved the landscape and since we love nature we really wanted to have an outdoor ceremony. Viaggio offered many different backdrops for our ceremony, but we chose, “Valley of the Trees.” It is an intimate narrow pathway in the middle of the river and walnut orchard that is draped with trees. We had 190 friends and family members at our wedding, but because of our ceremony location it still felt very intimate.

After the ceremony our friends and family enjoyed drinks and appetizers during the cocktail hour along the river. We offered high cocktail tables for our guest to rest at. Each table was draped with Topaz Iris linens, seasonal flowers and our “W” coasters. Guest were served Seared Lamb Chop Lollipops with Salsa Verde and Vine Ripe Tomato and Olive Relish Bruschetta.

Although we wanted an outdoor ceremony we wanted our reception indoors. Viaggio’s ballroom offered the perfect reception site. The ballroom has 3 separate levels. We chose to use the middle level and bottom level for our tables and the top level was for dancing, and our Zany Photo booth. Having the top level as our dance floor, really took the reception to the next level after dinner. The Zany Booth was just as popular as the dance floor. Our photographers Jill and Tony put up a white back drop for us to pose in front of. The best part: they found a variety of items around our reception and outside that we used to pose with. We used our orange and green “W” coasters, cigars, walnut shells, branches, spoon, cake, etc. Tony gave us a lot of direction and ideas, but we were free to get as ‘zany’ as we wished. People were very creative!

It was important for us to give our family and friends great food so during the reception our guest dined on:
Salad of Young Romaine and Mixed Baby Greens, House made candied walnuts with a Creamy Buttermilk Five Herb Vinaigrette
Butter Seared 28 Day Aged Top Sirloin steak, Local Aged White Cheddar Scalloped Potatoes, Steamed Blue Lake Beans with Herbed Butter, Green Peppercorn Veal Reduction Sauce
or
Grilled Portabella Mushroom stuffed with Cous Cous, Roasted Vegetables and Creamy Goat Cheeses, Fire Kissed Red Pepper Cream Sauce.

During the reception we offered Viaggio’s Cabernet, Petite Syrah and Pinot Grigio along with a variety of beers and a full bar.

We chose purple (my favorite color), orange (Andrew’s favorite color) and then green for our weddings colors. Getting married in the fall these jeweled colors would fit perfectly for the season.

Our guest tables were drapped with topaz iris linens and ivory napkins. Our center pieces arrangements were a mix of purple, orange and green seasonal flowers with votives placed around the center piece. The gorgeous glass chargers gave the tables the elegant touch needed. Placed in the napkin were our menu’s. On top of the napkin was our Love Rock for each guest along with the note describing the meaning of their favor.

We wanted to give the head table a different look then the guest tables so we chose all ivory linens. We had 2 large manzanita arrangements with crystals sweeping through the Manzanita. The Manzanita gave us the outdoor feel, but draped with crystals and flowers it softened the look. The flowers attached were all in ivory and greens. The 3 low center pieces were also ivory. My favorite part of the head table was the shape. We set it up as a rectangular royal table so the whole wedding party would face eachother. This way, we were able to communicate with everyone in our table.

My bridesmaid chose between 3 different dresses in lapis from Priscilla of Boston and I wore a strapless Alfred Sung with champagne heels and simple diamond earings. Andrew and his groomsmen rented their tux’s from “Richards” a small store where Andrew grew up. My bridesmaids and I dressed in the bridal suite at Viaggio while Andrew and his groomsmen rested and dressed in the ‘Man Cave’ at Viaggio.

Our DJ/MC was from Elite Entertainment. Elite Entertainmant and especially Greg Wallace came highly recommended and did a fantastic job. We never saw the dance floor empty. Andrew and I danced to “Somone Like You” by Van Morrison.

We LOVE the photobooth…such a fun touch :)

GSS Featured Wedding :: Jaymi & Andy’s California Tuscan Villa Wedding :: Dana Grant Photography

You’re in for a treat today!  Today we have a fabulous submission from Dana of Dana Grant Photography.  Dana Grant Photography is one of our preferred vendors and sponsors of GSS!  So please join us in giving Dana a great BIG warm welcome to GSS!!!  Dana Grant Photography is based out of California.

Jaymi and Andy were married in Simi Valley, California at Tuscan Villa Estate  on December 11, 2010 (how FUN- 12.11.10!).  Jaymi was a complete DIY bride and did an AH-MAZING job!!!  Kudos to you, Jaymi!  You are so super talented!  Jaymi was kind enough to answer a few questions for us:

How did you and Andy meet? Andy and I met online…which we are both still so shocked about. I never would have met him because we definitely ran in different circles, but one day I posted an ad on Craigslist (YES, craigslist!!!!) and didn’t even put a picture. I received about 1,000 emails (that’s no exaggeration) and whittled it down to 2 dates, one of which was Andy!!!

How long have you been together? We have been together now for nearly 6 years.

How did Andy propose? While on a long business trip to New York, I was feeling upset that my plane was delayed by two hours. and I was desperately missing my darling boyfriend, Andy. I arrived at the airport and was expecting my assistant to be picking me up…lo and behold, I caught sight of the pretty red mustang that signified that Andy was picking me up instead. He sensed that I was starving (the plane had run out of food!) and whisked me off to one of my favorite restaurants. While at dinner, he said that we were going to go home for a quiet night of snuggling and movies. That sounded perfect after the week I had!
When we got to our house, he opened the door and to my utter surprise, there were about 200 candles lit and a pathway from our front door of rose petals. The pathway led to a little “stage”, with a huge vase of gorgeous long stem roses… There he told me all of the things he loves about me and about us together. He got down on his knee and said my full name when asking me to be his wife…to which I screamed YES about 40 times. I hadn’t even looked at the ring yet because I was so focused on him, but when I did…I nearly woke up the neighborhood!  Finally, after many minutes of kissing and hugging, I started thinking…”how did he DO this???”  I asked him precisely that, to which he responded “I have one more surprise” and walked over and turned on the light to our adjoining dining room, where my 3 dearest friends jumped out!!! I screamed again!!! I never get to see these girls because our lives have all become so busy. It was a dream come true to have them there to witness one of the most amazing moments of my life. They brought out the champagne and treats they had prepared for the night and we all sat around talking about how wonderful and exciting the night was. Best of all, I have 3 different videos of the proposal!!! That is an absolutely priceless memory to have on video!!! It was the perfect proposal and showed me just how well Andy knows me and knows what I would want.

What sold you on your wedding venue? It was a beautiful home…and I could make it anything I wanted. They were open to any idea and put no rules and regulations on who did the catering, where the ceremony was or what time the wedding had to end. I loved that we got to stay there for five days with our wedding party and we held the rehearsal dinner in the same gazebo where our cocktails were held on the night of the wedding. I considered it a Home Destination wedding…which was exactly what we were looking for.

Your dress is gorgeous, where did you get it and how did you know it was “the one”? Oh, I LOVE my dress. It’s “Billie” from Sottero & Midgeley, I got it at a little Bridal shop near my home called Karoza in Glendale. It was the first dress I tried on!!! When my Mom, Matron of Honor, future Mom in law all saw me in it…they all knew it was the one, too. But, just to be sure, I tried on 28 more dresses over the next two months and always came back to that dress. I absolutely felt like I had never put on a garment that fit me so well!! I loved my dress so much that I even decided to have a Wedding themed birthday party about 2 months after our wedding just so I could wear it again!!! It was a great idea because I got to really enjoy it again before I had it cleaned!

What song did you dance to for your first dance? Andy and I share a love of dancing, so for our first dance, we choreographed a foxtrot that had a surprise in the middle… he rips off my long skirt to reveal a sexy little number underneath…and we did a salsa dance. We cut together our own song of “Lucky” by Jason Mraz for the foxtrot and then “Butterfly” by Jason Mraz for the salsa dance, using my basic programs on my Mac.

What was your “something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue”? My something old was a handkerchief that was my grandmothers from the 40′s, something new was the dress, something borrowed was the bracelet I wore which I borrowed from my future step-mom-in-law, something blue was my adorable underwear that said “I do.”

How did you choose your wedding color palette? I wanted to choose something that was classic and wouldn’t go out of style. Black and White is timeless and it really worked with the theme of Hollywood Modern Romance that I was going for. Then, Andy and I have a true love for all things red…so I added the little pop of red to suit us both…and to add a touch of romance.

Do you have any advice for brides that are in the planning process? Don’t labor over every little detail. Focus on the big important tasks and then realize that no matter what, some things won’t be perfect, and that is ok. Being a bridezilla just isn’t cute and it’s really not necessary… remember that all the people helping you and supporting you are there because they love you so much but they still have lives of their own to deal with. After the wedding, you will look back and realize that the most important moments were the shared moments leading up to the day with your best friends, family and most of all… fiance.

What was your favorite part of your big day? After we did our first dance, Andy surprised me by serenading me with our song “Calling You” by Blue October. He had his little sister learn it on the guitar and absolutely stunned me by SURPRISING me… I couldn’t believe he pulled something like that off without me knowing about it. It was one of the most romantic moments of my life.

GSS Featured Wedding :: Kelsey & Bryan’s Rustic Fall Texas Wedding :: Ryan Price Photography

Happy Friday, Lovelies!!!  Today’s fabulous featured wedding was submitted to us by Ryan Price of  Ryan Price Photography, a Texas based wedding photographer.  Ryan has been so sweet and accommodating to GSS and we have truly enjoyed working with him on this feature.

Kelsey and Bryan were married on August 28, 2010 at Amber Springs  in Montgomery, Texas.  What a beautiful venue! Kelsey was kind enough to answer a few questions for us:

How long have you and Bryan been together?  We’ve been together for 4 and a half years.

What sold you on your wedding venue?   I wanted something outdoors and rustic but that had an indoor venue for the reception that could be used as a back up in case of bad weather.

Your dress is gorgeous, where did you get it and how did you know it was “the one”?  Honestly, this is a funny question. I hate shopping and especially trying on clothes. As excited as I was to get married, finding a wedding dress still fit into that shopping/trying on clothes category. We had 3 dress appointments one day to look at dresses. The one I picked was at the first store, and it was maybe the third dress I tried on. I knew it was “the one” cause it had pockets, everyone loved it, it was reasonably priced, and I didn’t want to shop anymore. I canceled the other appointments and stopped looking. Done & done!   Haha!

What was your “something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue”?  One of my bridesmaids gave me a bracelet on the wedding day that was blue, I borrowed another one of my bridesmaid’s rings that was borrowed and old, and then everything else I had was new.

How did you choose your wedding color palette?  My favorite colors are shades of blue and I wanted summer colors… I didn’t really stick to one color palette.  I just went with whatever I liked and looked good.

What song did you dance to for your first dance?   Everything” by Michael Buble.

Do you have any advice for brides that are in the planning process?  Everything can get done… even at the last minute. I waited until about 3 weeks before to do cakes, flowers & many other little tasks… more expensive doesn’t always mean better. The best thing I did was completely stop stressing and worrying about anything a few days before. What’s done is done and what’s not isn’t but you might as well enjoy yourself.

What was your favorite part of your big day?  Oh gosh, I don’t have any complaints at all… the whole thing was my favorite. There were a few things that I was really pleasantly surprised by… my DJ went over and beyond his normal DJ duties, making sure the wedding party and my family always had a drink or food if they wanted it. He made sure Bryan and I sat down and ate something. If he hadn’t gone and made us a plate, I would have never eaten my own food! The wedding planner just made everything so easy and laid back for my family and I.

GSS’s Things We LOVE :: La Plume Ethere :: Vintage Inspired Feather Accessories

Our good friend, Kate Miller, of Kate Takes Photos clued us in on the pure genius of La Plume Ethere.  La Plume Ethere makes absolutely gorgeous vintage inspired feather accessories.  Oh, and if you purchase one of La Plume Ethere’s fabulous feather accessories, 10% of the proceeds go to the American Cancer Society!  So not only will you be getting some stunning accessories for your wedding, but you will also be donating to charity!!  Now, you really HAVE to check them out!

Here’s a little bit about La Plume Ethere via their Etsy shop:

“I began creating feather accessories under my first shop (The Surreptitious Sloth on Etsy, http://surreptitioussloth.etsy.com) in January of 2009. Inspiration is drawn from vintage fashion; whether it be the era of Old Hollywood, Flappers, or Victorian style, La Plume Ethere seeks to create unique, one of a kind pieces that add unique flair to any special event.

La Plume Ethere raised and donated $1200 for the American Cancer Society in 2010!

La Plume Ethere donates 10% of all sales to The American Cancer Society. When I began creating and selling items, I did so around the holiday season of 2009. This was my first holiday season after having lost my mother to lung cancer.

To keep myself busy during this time, I began crafting. My mom was an avid crafter. She hand made every halloween costume and taught me to sew. She created hundreds of Christmas ornaments (which the first year without her our new kitten attacked…). And, every single doorway was adorned with some form of decorative wreath hand crafted by my mom. So, what else was there to do while trying to remember her positively but craft!

I soon discovered what I loved to do best was to work with feathers. Their texture–so soft and fluffy–if so much fun to work with. What I loved even more, as I soon found out, was working with brides and creating something special for their wedding. Each bouquet, fascinator, boutonniere, or other La Plume Ethere creation ends up a part of a very special time in someone’s life.

My shop has allowed me to do something I love and remember someone I love. Creating unique one of a kind pieces that help to make someone’s special day even more special and fund raising for cancer research have both given me.”

And now for their beautiful eye candy!
