GSS Featured Wedding Pro :: McGowan Images :: Ross & Jen’s Travel Themed Engagement Session

A giant THANKS to Chelsea from McGowan Images for sending this fun travel themed engagement session in from Texas. Jen and Ross wanted to have a travel themed engagement session to bring out their personalities in the shoot. We were able to catch up with Jennifer and ask her a few questions…Take it away Jen!

How did you and your fiance meet?
We are high school sweethearts. We went to a small high school so knowing we “knew” each other before we ever really knew each other.

How long have you been together?
6 and a half years.

How did he propose?
It’s kind of funny… We were joking around about ring shopping with his mom the night before a shopping trip. The plan was if his mom mentioned shopping for a ring we would. Of course we stopped at a bank and his mom turned to him and asked if he needed to get money out for a ring. I thought he was going to die. Then he was like a deal’s a deal. So we shopped (this whole time I was thinking it was just for fun) Then we found the perfect ring so he bought it. I thought he would hold onto it for awhile, but he lasted all of the car ride home. We were at his parent’s house about an hour later when he dropped down on one knee and asked. It was simple, spontaneous, and very us.

Where are you getting married?
Runaway Bay Country Club, Runaway Bay Texas

What sold you on your wedding venue?
It is just a couple miles from my (Jen’s) home. I have played golf there and went to Sunday lunch every Sunday after church since I was little. When we were thinking of places to get married we wanted a place that had history with us, but would also let us do what we wanted. We are in school five states away so I didn’t want to deal with people that I didn’t know or trust. The Club had everything we wanted and it was the perfect size and in the right location.

Tell us about your wedding dress?
My dress is a Maggie Sottero. It is a champagne color with lots and lots of pearl and crystal beading. To me it is very romantic and elegant, which is exactly how I want to feel on my wedding day.

We love the theme….tell us more about that?
The theme from our engagement session fit right in with the theme for our wedding.  We are going for a whimsical vintage shabby-chic vibe. Everything is going to be eclectic, nothing will match, but everything will complement.

What is your wedding color palette?
Shades of plum, charcoal grey, and a sagey-lime green

Do you have any advice for brides that are in the planning process?
Take your time and enjoy it. You don’t get to plan any other event as important or special as your wedding day. Make sure that you have what you want, and that you use all of your resources. There is no reason to go broke paying for a wedding.

What has been your favorite part of planning your big day?
I would have to say the actual act of planning. It has been great to bond with my family and Ross’s as we have chosen everything we want for our wedding. We have a great support system, and that has made this process so much fun!

Thank you so much, Chelsea, for sharing this engagement session with us!  Please stop by her blog and show her some love!  And thank you, Jen and Ross for sharing your fun themed engagement portraits with us and for taking the time to answer our questions!  We wish you both a lifetime full of love, laughter, and happiness!!!  May every day be better than the last!
