GSS Wedding Planning Tools :: Tips to Get and Stay Organized!

Wedding planning can be a daunting task. We are so glad you are here at Groom Sold Separately to help plan or get some eye-candy for different ideas! Many brides hire planners to help with the organization, and other brides get so many ideas it can seem overwhelming at first. Don’t feel like its impossible to stay organized. We have seen many brides carrying around binders and looking at their stacks of wedding magazines. We can point you to some great electronic planning tools if you want to stay eco-friendly during your wedding planning. If you are doing it on your own, here are some tips to stay organized during the planning process.

:: Create a Wedding Binder ::

You can find these three ring binders in most stores with school or office supplies. We suggest sectioning off your binder, with tabs. This will help you to keep things separate and organized. Some tabs will have pockets for your to put wedding vendor information in or receipts. Keep your contracts and receipts safe….they are good to have handy in case you need to review or revise something with your wedding professional. The plastic see-through sleeves are also a great addition to your wedding planning binder. You can add the cut-outs from wedding magazines or fabric samples from linens. Some brides bring these binders to the wedding (good idea for the maid of honor to be in charge of). Its a fun photo opportunity for your wedding photographer too. Its fun to see all of your hard work, dreaming and planning come to life.

Some brides like to have all of their information at the tip of their fingers. We like this  iphone app from Wedding Wire. Its free and lets you view tasks, vendors and plan away. All while being great for the environment. No paper-work to deal with (other than vendor contracts and receipts – remember to keep these in a safe place!)

While we are on the topic of staying eco-friendly. Let’s not forget the power-house GOOGLE. Who would have thought they have some great wedding planning tools? Well they DO and talk about staying organized. They let you simplify the planning and keep things all in one place. We LOVE google docs and spreadsheets. They have a handful of google docs already organized for you. All you have to do is enter your wedding details. Check it out here!

:: Wedding Magazines ::

We can’t leave out the magazines. You were salivating over them at the checkout stand while you dreamed your now fiance would propose. As soon as he popped the question (or maybe before) you grabbed a few and started flipping through the glossy pages to gain inspiration and knowledge. Wedding magazines are great! Beware, there are many that may change the cover and you think you are getting a new issue, but check the contents….you may already have that one.

We hope you continue to look to Groom Sold Separately for ideas and wedding trends….we will keep you updated with all things wedding!
