GSS Featured Engagement Session :: Shasta and Lance’s Sweet and Flirty Fort Worth Engagement :: Arden Prucha Photography

Today’s fabulous featured engagement comes from Arden Prucha Photography a Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas based wedding photographer.  Does her name sound familiar?  It should!  We featured the amazing engagement session of Jessi & Turner back in October.  If you have never laid eyes on this awesome 1940’s inspired engagement session, please click here to check it out!

Arden has been so sweet and accommodating to GSS and we have truly enjoyed working with her on this feature.  FYI- This is one of the sweetest proposals ever! :)

Shasta and Lance  are to be married on February 5, 2011.   Shasta was kind enough to answer a few questions for us:

How did you and Lance meet?  We met through mutual friends. I was finishing school and waiting tables and he came in with some friends. I blew him off on our first date haha. Then we finally went out and I was in love.

How long did you date before the proposal OR How long have you been together?  We will be together two years in April. He proposed on March 20th, 2010.

Have you set a date yet?  We are getting married February 5th,2011 in Playa del Carmen, Mexico!

Have you picked your venue?  If so, what made you choose this location?  We chose a destination wedding because we wanted a smaller intimate setting of close friends and family. Also we had our first vacation in Playa and it was unforgettable.

At what point did you know that Lance was “the one”?  After about two weeks of dating we were completely inseparable. He truly is my best friend.

Besides getting engaged, what is your favorite memory as a couple?  We took a trip to Mexico with another couple and had so much fun together just relaxing and laughing the entire time.

How did Lance propose?  He got his mom and sister to come kidnap me for a day of shopping. I arrived home that night to a long stem rose on the door with a note. I opened the front door and there were over 200 candles and flowers everywhere. Took my breath away. There was a trail of Hershey kisses throughout the house with long stem roses and letters about why he loved me so much that he had hand written. I walked into the bedroom and he was on one knee. I started bawling. I couldn’t tell you what he said I just remember holding his face in my hands because his sweet voice was shaking :)

Were you surprised?  Very much so!

What made you choose Arden as your photographer?  We have a ton of mutual friends on facebook and I added her. I began to look at her blog constantly even before we were engaged. Her work is absolutely breathtaking. I was amazed by her use of color and her way of bringing out the inner beauty in people.   Her family is so picture perfect. Love you Arden!

Thank you so much, Arden, for sharing this amazing engagement session with us!  Please stop by her website and blog and show her some love!  And thank you, Shasta, for taking your time to answer our questions!  We hope your wedding is everything that you have ever dreamed of and wish you and Lance a lifetime full of love, laughter, and happiness!!!  May every day be better than the last!

Reggie from Phenom Photography sent this engagement session and we swooned with delight!

We asked Julie some questions about her upcoming wedding and this engagement session…

How did you and Brett meet?

We were freshmen in college. I lived in chitwood Brett lived in Weymouth. I had gone to church that day and was walking into the dorms. I only know this because Brett remembers the dress I was wearing. It was baby blue and I still have it and I only wear it to church. A mutual friend (whom we cant remember) introduced us, there was a casual hello and goodbye. Through the years at Tech we had many mutual friends but our timing was off for each other. Post college Brett asked me out as soon as he found out I was single. I tried hard to fight him off, but he grew on me. Now I cant imagine how I ever managed without him. I Love you Brett.

How long have you been together?

We have been together for three years.
Tell us about the proposal?

We went skiing in Breakenridge, Colorado. Let me Just start by explaining that I thought Brett was going to ask me to marry him before the end of the year. So even though I was trying not to get my hopes up…. we looked at rings so I couldn’t help it. As time went by I became more and more secretly excited. By the time we went on our trip I was almost 100% sure that Brett was not going to ask me after all. Which was fine I could wait but he didn’t seem remorseful about it at all. So then I was thinking, “well I guess he doesn’t want to marry me.” Brett had the whole thing planned. The last day of skiing, the last run, we were at the top of the mountain. Brett was tugging on my boot and said their was something wrong with my boot. I looked down and he was on one knee with the ring. He asked me if I would marry him. I said yes!

Your dress is gorgeous, where did you get it and how did you know it was “the one” for your session?

I got my dress from Betsey Johnson. I knew it was the one for the enagement pics because  I love the classic 1950’s styles, the a-line tea length dresses. I like that it was delicate, vintage and girly.  My wedding dress is mostly lace, and I love the delicate appearance of it. My wedding dress is a lot like my grandmother’s wedding dress. My grandmother and I are very close she is giving me away and I have always loved her pictures in her dress. Grandma was the first Miss Cooper at her high school in Abeline. My point in sharing is that she is special to me and to me she is beauty, class, and love. All of those things I have looked up to and aspired to be like her.

What was your favorite image from your engagement session?

My favorite image…I love the picture where Brett is kissing my shoulder. It is so sweet. It is doting, caring, and loving, Brett is all these things to me. I was looking out at our future ceremony site a little scared, and excited about what is to come. I also love the picture of us in the middle of the greenery with bushes all around looking at the camera smiling it just looks like we are an illustration for the book Secret garden.

What sold you on the location?

Botanical Gardens Fort Worth the lower rose garden. We ( or honestly Brett let me pick) decided that being outside with a breeze and nature and all that God has made that we feel closer to God. I grew up in Arlington and would frequent the botanical gardens. My Grandmother is pretty much a professional at gardening and I have grown to love flowers and plants because of her. We chose the lower rose garden because: rose is symbolic of love, I love its smell, its classic and beautiful, and the lower rose garden is beautiful. I love the old stone steps that lead down through a giant rose garden to a small pond lined with weeping willows. It’s just a beautiful setting. I wanted to do the engagement pics there because I think its beautiful and I wanted our shoot to be even more special while thought and dreams of whats to come soon (the wedding).

What are you looking forward to most on your wedding day?

Just one thing? Brett’s face when he sees me walk down the isle, us being one family (Brett me and my daughter Madelynn), I cant wait to hear Madelynn’s and Brett’s vows to each other, and I cant wait to have all the people that I love all together in one room, for a night.
