GSS Wedding Trend :: Its Beginning to Look a lot Like Christmas :: Pinecones!!

source

Its beginning to look a lot like Christmas WEDDINGS! We wanted to share a few resources for you to incorporate a fun, still whimsical, economical design into your winter wedding. We love pine cones! They really SPRUCE up a winter wedding. Pun intended there. From pine cone bouquets, to pine cone garlands…..this post is sure to have you giddy over your winter wedding ideas. We dropped by Pinterest for some winter wedding ideas and found an abundance of pine cones. Its raining pine cones in weddings this season. I can remember as a young girl going to pick up pine cones and collecting them for different winter decorating projects. We would dip them in scented wax to fill the air with a wonderful holiday scent, then we would place them in baskets by the fireplace and toss them in a warm cozy fire to infuse the air with that lovely scent. So, it got us thinking – why not bring these things to weddings? Table numbers, place cards, centerpieces, garlands, even bouquets. The possibilities are great. Have fun creating your dream winter wedding and hopefully you can use some pine cones too!

GSS Wedding Style :: Winter Wonderland :: Tamara Menges Designs

The temperatures are getting cooler and that means we are getting closer to the winter months. We received this submission of beautiful styling from Tamara Menges and wanted to share it with you. It just screams winter! A winter wedding is absolutely stunning and we hope you can take a few of these elements and make them your own. A little from the designer….

“I’m a Southern girl with a Southern heart, but I also have a flair for the “couture” fashion and design that comes with the major cities, such as New York. I wanted to inspire brides that may feel the same way, the brides who want to honor their upbringing of the “down home, porch sitting, iced tea sipping” way of life, but also integrate the “high-end couture” details that we all love to drool over in the magazines. In order to nod to the high-end I knew I had to use crystals, glass, and fur. I used fur fabric to cover the seat of the ghost chairs and added the lumbar pillows provided by “K & K It’s a Hit Events”. The glass balls were hung to make a “skirt” around the table, and the piece of glass on top of the crystal candlesticks was cut special for this shoot. For the cake table, I recognized the most southern flower is the magnolia, but I wanted to integrate a fresh new way to utilize them. In order to do this I sprayed them silver and glued silver glitter to the leaves. For the cake I incorporated rhinestones and silver glitter as well. For the “love letter” set, I thought “what’s more romantic than a bride writing her future husband a letter of how much he means to her, those moments when you’re completely ready and waiting to walk down the aisle to your new husband and new life.” I wanted to capture these precious moments, so we used an antique secretary and embellished with beautiful and colorful items, complete with the bride’s personal stationary and feather pen! How delightful it can be when two different worlds can merge making for a unique and sophisticated “southern couture” inspiration.”

Winter Wedding Favors :: Chocolate Covered Stirring Spoons

We’re back with your second installment of perfect wedding favors for your winter wedding!  Check out these nifty chocolate covered stirring spoons.  All you need are plastic spoons (they are even making plastic spoons that are metallic and look like real silverware now), chocolate or white chocolate almond bark, small clear plastic baggies, and ribbon coordinated with your wedding’s color scheme.  Just heat the almond bark in the microwave for 20-25 second intervals, stirring in between intervals, until fully melted.  Dip your spoons in the melted almond bark up to the handle of the spoon.  Lay the newly coated spoon aside on some wax paper to cool.  Repeat until you have all of your spoons dipped in chocolate.  Then, you put the chocolate end of the spoon inside the baggie, tie your ribbon around it, and add a personalized label if you like!  These make wonderful stirs for coffee and hot chocolate.

GSS Inspiration Board :: Winter Wonderland

Don’t you just love the majestic beauty of winter?  Especially when everything around you is blanketed in snow?  It looks like a clean white canvas, free to be colored as you wish.  That’s exactly what we were thinking when we created this Winter Wonderland Inspiration Board.  With a white background and a little lighting, you can change the color and create the mood of your preference.  Also, winter just screams “lavish” to us for some reason.  Maybe it’s how the ice forms off of tree branches and houses and glistens beautifully like diamonds…  And you know diamonds are a girl’s best friend…
