GSS Featured Wedding :: Esther & Jeremy’s New Orleans Wedding :: Brandon O’Neal Photography

Today’s fabulous featured wedding comes from Brandon O’Neal Photography, a Louisiana based wedding photographer.  Brandon has been so sweet and accommodating to GSS and we have truly enjoyed working with him on this feature.

Esther and Jeremy were married on May 29, 2010 at the Loews New Orleans Hotel in New Orleans, Louisiana.  Esther was kind enough to answer a few questions for us:

How did you and Jeremy meet?  Jeremy and I met at Southeastern Louisiana University.  We were both involved in Greek life at SELU and met in my sorority house.

How long have you been together?  We were friends for about a year before we stated dating.  We dated for 2 ½ years, and we were engaged for 1 year.

How did he propose?   Jeremy proposed on the top of the Windsor Court Hotel overlooking the entire city of New Orleans and the Mississippi River.  He did a fabulous job planning the proposal and surprising me.  It was really beautiful!

Your dress is gorgeous, where did you get it and how did you know it was “the one”?  I originally found 2 dresses that were perfect for me – one was a Rivini gown that was elegant and the other was a Vera Wang gown that was perfect for an afternoon wedding in the summer.  I ended up going with the Rivini gown, so my wedding would have more of an elegant tone.  Unfortunately, after I had my bridal photo shoot, the dry cleaner that I had been using for years destroyed my wedding gown about 40 days before my big day.  I then found out that another Rivini gown could not be ordered due to time constraints.  I eventually found the Vera Gown, and it came in on time and fit perfectly.  It was a very stressful experience, but I got to have both gowns in the end!

What sold you on your wedding venue?  I had been to Loews New Orleans Hotel once before and was absolutely blown away by the service I received.  The hotel was beautiful, so I had to book an appointment with them to see what they had to offer.  One of the main things that I had to have was a venue that could accommodate a ceremony and a reception.  During my visit with Loews New Orleans Hotel, they informed me that I could use the Piazza d’Italia, an outdoor Italian renaissance park located next to the hotel, for my ceremony.

How did you choose your wedding color palette?   I loved the shade of cornflower blue that David’s Bridal had at the time.  I thought it would be really pretty on a summer afternoon.

What was your “something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue”?

Something old – didn’t have something old

Something New – dress and shoes

Something borrowed – diamond hair pin

Something blue – garter

What song did you dance to for your first dance?  “Only You Can Love Me This Way” by Keith Urban

Do you have any advice for brides that are in the planning process?  The best piece of advice that I got over and over again was “Don’t sweat the small stuff because in the end it doesn’t matter.”  And they were all right!

What was your favorite part of your big day?  When I walked out into the Piazza to go up the aisle, I was so stressed and nervous, but as soon as I turned the last corner and saw Jeremy, all my stress washed away, and it felt like we were the only two people there.
