Kristin and Chris were married just outside of Chicago at the Morton Arboretum in a gorgeous outdoor summer ceremony on August 6, 2010. Olivia was kind enough to fill us in on all of the awesome details of this beautiful wedding:
“This was a sweet little wedding from this summer. The couple, Kristin and Chris, held a wedding just a few miles from where Kristin grew up, at the beautiful Morton Arboretum, about 30 miles outside of Chicago. The Morton Arboretum is a nonprofit organization situated on 1,300 acres of land, dedicated to the planting and conservation of trees. It is a lush and forest-like space that is such a retreat for visitors. Kristin looked beautiful in a romantic, almost storybook gown from Pronovias. Chris looked so dapper in his slightly vintage-leaning gray suit, which the florist beautifully set off with a lovely boutonniere that completed Kristin’s all-white bouquet. The couple saw each other for the first time at the venue, choosing to do a “private vows” ceremony, where they read personal vows to each other as part of their first look. This was an emotional and touching moment that is one of my favourite suggestions for couples looking to incorporate a personal touch into their day in a still intimate and private fashion. So lovely. After seeing each other, we took a series of beautiful portraits around the property. Kristin and Chris held their ceremony just as the sun was beginning to set, on the sprawling lawn in front of a large tree. As the golden sun peeked out behind the leaves it created such an ethereal and romantic backdrop to their vows. Following the ceremony, guests retreated to the reception site, enjoying cocktails on the patio and dinner inside the education center, where both Kristin’s and Elizabeth Wray Designs‘ visions combined to create gorgeous rustic-vintage table decor. After rousing toasts, guests moved into the dance room to enjoy a special choreographed first dance (complete with a lift!) from Kristin and Chris that honored her background in dance, followed by a night of less rehearsed dance moves. It was such a beautiful day!”
